At the end of 2011 BHP Billiton funded a significant project assessment strategy to address the social & economic issues faced by Martu People in Newman. A reference group of Martu agencies operating in Newman was formed for the purpose of provding guidance and advice. RPM is very proud of the work completed on this project; we recruited over 12 Martu People to work in the field conducting interviews with over 300 Martu People.

A number of the projects have been implemented. Funding is now being sourced for the significant projects in Newman such as the Martu Hostel accommodation, bus service and family centre.
